Has anyone visited The Crown & Mitre in Ferry Street lately? There is some serious real ale going and it is a very traditional pub. No TV - no Jukebox - no gambling machines all in all a serious place to have a nice drink and meal overlooking the Great Ouse from the Vinery. :smt053 It is the only genuine free pub in Lynn. The interior is full of ship artefacts and Roger, (the landlord), will amaze you with his knowledge of the history of Lynn. It is worth a visit.

:smt006 I spoke to Roger about joining and although he has a computer he doesn't know how to use it - it has never been set up. Someone went with him to buy the computer and was going to help him but didn't. Hence it is still packed away and he says that it it all beyond him anyway.

I'm not much of a beer drinker Jazz but I will go for a meal there soon. Wish I had thought of the Crown and Mitre last Sunday. We went to the Globe for a change, big mistake, the barman who took the order was rude in a sort of ' I really can't be bothered to take your order' fashion and the food arrived not as we wanted it cooked. So it's the Crown next time. :D

:smt006 I have had 1 or 2 meals there and everything is cooked fresh!! No frozen or prepared meals to be micro waved. David, the cook is happy for you to see the kitchen!! Not many eateries will allow this!!!!!! The pies' are 'out of this world' so much meat and well cooked. I believe that if a restuarant deserves praise then it should be given. As it says on the menu "at busy times there will a wait for your order - but it will be worthwhile"

 Hi Chris
I think you would be surprised!! It is true that Roger will not tolerate abusive behaviour but that is from anyone of any age! There are lot's of young people (I assume you are young!) that are welcome at the Crown - they play pool, have a drink and generally enjoy themselves. Go on give it a try! :smt006
