HO/107/781/14 Folio 16 The Wayland Union was comprised of the parishes of Breckles, Carbrooke, Caston, Little Ellingham, Griston, Merton, Ovington, Rockland St. Peter, Scoulton, Stow-Bedon, Thompson, Toshington and Watton from the Wayland Hundred and the parishes of Attleborough, Besthorpe, Hargham, Great Ellingham, Hockham, Illington, Larling, Roudham, Shropham, Snetterton and Rockland All Saints & Rockland St. Andrew from the Shropham Hundred. Built in 1836 it had housing for 300 paupers but in summer had seldom half that number. Source: White's Directory 1845.
