White's Directory 1845 states: All 50 of the parishes of Mitford & Launditch Hundred incorporated for support of the poor, in 1775;
but in 1801, the parish of East Dereham obtained an act by which
it was separated from the incorporation. In 1836 the whole of these
parishes, with ten parishes from the Eynesford Hundred, were formed
into a Union under the new poor law.
The incorporated parishes were:
Cranworth,
E. Dereham, Dillington,
Garveston, Hardingham, Hockering, Letton, Mattishall-Bergh,
Reymerstone, Shipdham, Thuxton, South Berg, East & North
Tuddenham, Westfield, Whinburgh, Woodrising, Yaxham.
From
the Launditch Hundred were:
Beeston,
All Saints with Bittering,
Beetley, East Bilney, Brisley, Colkirk, Dillington Ham. Gt. & Little
Dunham,
North Elmham, Gt. & Little Fransham, Gateley, Hoe or Hoo,
Gressenhall, Horningtoft, Kempstone,
East & West Lexham, Litcham,
Longham, Mileham, Oxwick with Pattesley, Rougham, Scarning,
Stanfield,
Swanton Morley,
Tittleshall with Godwick, Weasenham
All Saints, & St. Peter, Wellingham, Wendling, Whissonsett,
and Worthing.
Also included are the parishes of Bawdeswell,
Billingford, Bintree, Bylaugh, Elsing, Foxley, Guist, Lyng, Sparham
and Twyford from the Eynesford Hundred.
A total of 60 parishes.
